Starbucks’ Web3 project, Odyssey, has joined forces with Aku, an NFT project by former Major League Baseball player Micah Johnson, to introduce a new series of NFT Stamps.
The collection aims to empower young children to dream big while immersing members of Odyssey in the “Aku Adventure,” an interactive journey available until August 13, 2023.
Starbucks has also announced a donation of $100,000 to Blessings in a Backpack, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing weekend meals for underprivileged school-aged children across the United States who may otherwise face hunger.
This latest initiative marks yet another milestone for Starbucks on its Web3 roadmap, particularly within its Odyssey program. Introduced in September 2022, Odyssey seeks to offer its members innovative and engaging coffee experiences. Just last month, the renowned coffeehouse chain distributed NFT Stamps, crafted by selected artists, to its loyal members via an airdrop.
In April, the company unveiled “The First Store,” the second collection of NFTs under their Web3 initiative, Starbucks Odyssey. This followed the successful launch of “The Siren Collection” in March, which sold out within a remarkable 20 minutes.
On the other hand, the Aku NFT project, launched in February 2021, is a collection of 3D avatars that grant access to the Akuverse, where holders can access culture-defining experiences, products, and collaborations in both the digital and physical worlds.
The first chapter of the Aku story was sold for $2 million in February 2021, creating a significant impact in mainstream media. To date, the project has established partnerships with Puma, Planes, Vandal, Who Decides War, BBC, and Ice Cream.
