Renault continues its journey in the non-fungible token (NFT) space with the launch of its second collection.
The new drop, dubbed “Racing Shoe5,” features sneakers in six models, five of which draw inspiration from the R5 Turbo, the iconic sport hatchback automobile launched in 1980. The sixth model was designed in collaboration with the Web3 R3NLT community as a tribute to the R5 TURBO 3E show car.
The design of each sneaker model reflects the corresponding car model, featuring unique details such as insoles inspired by saddlery and laces inspired by seat belts.
The collection includes 960 pairs of sneakers, with 160 per each of the six models, all to be showcased in Renault’s first virtual shop.
Each NFT sneaker will be matched with a physical pair made of LWG (Leather Working Group) certified leather. After purchasing the NFT version for €265, each unique numbered pair of sneakers will be produced and will come with an additional NFT chip inserted into the shoe, serving as a passport to prove authenticity and containing important details such as materials, composition, and other pertinent information.
Members of the R3NLT community will have exclusive access to the online store on May 15, while the general public will be able to access it from May 17.
Renault’s first NFT collection, “genR5,” was unveiled in December 2022, inspired by the Renault 5 model, and featured a total of 1,972 NFTs, with the number referring to the year the Renault 5 was launched.
