Alibaba Cloud, a cloud computing company, subsidiary of the Alibaba Group, has partnered with Avalanche, a decentralized, open-source proof-of-stake blockchain, to create an initiative focused on the metaverse.
The initiative involves the release of “Cloudverse,” a metaverse launchpad designed to help Alibaba’s clients create their own metaverse spaces with ease and provide their clientele with new experiences.
A third partner, Metaverse Universal Assets (MUA), a DAO that empowers metaverse adoption, will guide clients through their needs and provide feasible solutions for their metaverse spaces.
As a result, customers will receive support for metaverse economics, interactive functions, continued operations, and more, taking advantage of solutions that span from virtual space design to metaverse event management.
The companies claim that building a metaverse space will take a company just over a month, and they will be able to take advantage of Alibaba Cloud’s robust global network, which provides reliable and low-latency connectivity to blockchain services, ensuring a smooth user experience in the metaverse.
Alibaba Cloud’s potential within Web3 was also noticed in February when Alberto Roura, SRE lead at Studio None, presented at the Alibaba Cloud Developer Summit 2023 on generating NFT images using Alibaba Cloud Serverless.
The release of Cloudverse is not Alibaba’s first venture into Web3. In September 2022, Alibaba’s luxury shopping platform Tmall Luxury Pavilion launched an immersive metaverse experience and Meta Pass, providing free access to virtual experiences.
