During Alibaba Cloud Developer Summit 2023, Alberto Roura, a site reliability engineering lead at Studio None, spoke about Generating NFT Images using Alibaba Cloud Serverless.
In providing the solution, Roura explained the difficulties and challenges of working with media — such as the need for large storage — and how the Web3 ecosystem works and needs, including IPFS (key for storing NFTs).
To overcome those problems, Roura pointed out how artists may create their images and upload them on a JS site hosted in Alibaba Cloud Object Storage Service (OSS), where they can choose from a variety of attributes — digital backgrounds, accessories, clothes, and more — to personalize their NFTs to change their rarity level and make each one unique.
NFT metadata is then sent to the OSS bucket, which triggers an “ObjectCreated” event, leading to the generation of the NFT collection using Python scripts. As a result, a ZIP file is generated and artists can download or upload the collection to IPFS and mint.
As well as solving storage data issues, this solution could make it easy for artists who are not familiar with technology to turn their artworks into NFTs.
This is another application that Alibaba can offer within the Web3 ecosystem, one in which the company has been showing interest for some time. For example, in September, Tmall Luxury Pavilion, Alibaba’s luxury shopping platform, launched an immersive metaverse experience and a Meta Pass that grants free access.
