Prada’s Web3 journey will not come to an end with the new year. The 5th of January will, in fact, represent another “Thursday drop” as part of its Timecapsule NFT initiative.
For this limited edition release, the Italian luxury fashion brand teamed with artist Enzo Ragazzini, an Italian photographer and originator of the Optical Art movement.
The drop, titled “INTERFERENZA OTTICA ART PRINT BY ENZO RAGAZZINI 1969,” is a shirt featuring a design from 1969 that was created by the artist for an exhibition at the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) in London.
The clothing’s distinctive black-and-white motif pattern is the result of an optical interference technique using Ragazzini’s mechanical device inventions.
As usual, an NFT—an animated capsule that travels within and across a turning mechanical wheel—will accompany the physical item.
This NFT drop is Prada’s 37th, and it follows other releases that have occurred on the first Thursday of every month since May.
Prada looks to have a strong commitment to both its NFT program and Web3 in general.
In an effort to make Web3 projects a reality, the business has also solidified its partnerships with other major companies.
Examples include its January partnership with Adidas to create the “Adidas for Prada Re-Nylon Collection,” which features NFTs drawn from it. The “Adidas for Prada re-source” NFT auction, which finished at 30ETH, or more than $80,000 (at the time it was sold), was the result of a second partnership between the two fashion brands.
