Mercedes-Benz is taking further steps into the world of Web3 with its recent announcement of a new non-fungible token (NFT) collection.
Known as “NXT Icons,” this collection is a deliberate nod to Mercedes-Benz’s rich design legacy, aiming to rekindle the essence of its design heritage.
Each NFT within this collection takes the form of a digital card, crafted by the Mercedes-Benz design team. These cards encapsulate and reimagine the most iconic designs that have shaped the brand’s identity.
The NXT Icons collection will unfold across seven distinct “eras.” Each era promises to introduce around 2,700 unique collectibles, collectively amounting to 18,860 pieces spanning all seven eras.
Eras will be gradually revealed over time, with new releases slated for every few months.
As shared through a recent update on X (formerly known as Twitter), Mercedes-Benz is gearing up to provide fans with more insights into the details of each of the seven eras. This includes shedding light on the featured designs within the inaugural era and the diverse array of characteristics embodied within the Mercedes-Benz NXT Icons collection.
Holders of the prior collections “Maschine” and Mercedes-Benz NXT Eternities tokens will be granted a mint pass for access to the Mercedes-Benz NXT Icons series.
Mercedes-Benz previously made its entry into the NFT scene with the “Maschine” collection in collaboration with artist Harm van den Dorpel and Fingerprints DAO, released in March.
These efforts are just a snapshot of Mercedes-Benz’s multifaceted engagement with Web3. Its journey began in January 2022, with a collaboration with Art2People resulting in an exclusive Mercedes-Benz NFT collection inspired by the G-Class vehicle line. The company also marked its intentions in the metaverse and NFT space with trademark applications filed in December 2022.
