DBS, the multinational banking and financial services corporation headquartered in Singapore, has introduced a new metaverse experience with the aim of spotlighting the global issue of food waste.
With a firm belief in the potential of the metaverse as a “force for good,” DBS has brought forth “DBS BetterWorld.”
Within this virtual world, users are invited to complete a sequence of tasks inspired by five “Businesses for Impact.” These digital missions are aligned with the DBS Foundation’s mission: aid enterprises in their shift toward sustainable and impact-focused models.
The activities at hand encompass actions such as rescuing soon-to-expire food items from the bin, cultivating crops in rooftop farms to feed the land, harvesting crops from sky gardens, and more.
Furthermore, players located in Singapore have the opportunity to earn extra rewards that can be redeemed through exclusive QR codes accessible via DBS PayLah!, the official app of DBS.
The experience also includes hidden surprises for players to uncover, including appearances by beloved characters from the bank’s acclaimed web series, Sparks.
This immersive experience is set to be hosted within The Sandbox metaverse and will become accessible upon the launch of The Sandbox’s Alpha Season 4.
This virtual initiative stems from a preceding effort started by DBS in 2022. Collaborating with The Sandbox, DBS Bank introduced its initial metaverse involvement, designed to underscore the importance of building a better and more sustainable world.
