Walmart, the popular American multinational retail corporation, is making waves in the Web3 space once again. The retail giant has just unveiled its latest venture—a back-to-school metaverse experience.
Named “Supercampus,” this virtual experience will be brought to life on the leading metaverse platform Roblox.
Within this innovative digital space, users are able to personalize their avatars and embark on an exploratory journey through a campus landscape.
Users are also able to engage in mini-games to challenge their puzzle-solving skills and interact with other users to further enrich the experience.
This is not the first Walmart’s foray into the metaverse and Web3. As early as February, the corporation demonstrated its interest and commitment to emerging technologies. The company submitted a trademark application under its subsidiary Sam’s Club, marking its intention to delve into the world of NFTs, cryptocurrencies, metaverse, and blockchain.
In September 2022, Walmart had already made its initial foray into the metaverse by launching two virtual experiences on Roblox: “Walmart Universe of Play” and “Walmart Land.” These immersive digital spaces marked Walmart’s initial steps in exploring the potential of metaverse platforms to enhance customer engagement.
