Mercedes-Benz NXT, the blockchain-based digital art and collectibles platform by Mercedes-Benz, has revealed its first-ever collection of non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
The collection, named “Maschine,” is a collaboration between Mercedes-Benz, Berlin-based artist Harm van den Dorpel, and Fingerprints DAO. It explores the concepts of motion, velocity, and perception by featuring a 3D spinning wheel at various speeds.
The Maschine NFT collection includes 1,000 unique artworks, each portraying digital radial patterns that change as objects spin and accelerate.
The collection will be offered through Fingerprints DAO’s website on June 7, starting at 18:00 CET.
The collection will be minted using a rebate Dutch auction format. In this type of auction, the item’s price gradually decreases over time until a buyer is found. Moreover, buyers who paid more than the last sell price will be eligible to claim a refund equal to the difference between their purchase price and the final selling price.
Mercedes-Benz launched Mercedes-Benz NXT on May 22, 2023, as a dedicated platform to engage with the Web3 community. It aims to establish a prominent presence in the world of blockchain and digital art through its creative studio, 0xNXT.
Mercedes-Benz had already made strides in the Web3 space before the launch of Mercedes-Benz NXT. In December, the company filed trademark applications related to the metaverse and NFTs. Furthermore, in December 2022, Mercedes collaborated with Art2People to create an exclusive NFT collection based on the iconic G-Class vehicle line.
