Shiseido has teamed up with creative agency CULT to establish a first-of-its-kind NFT-based community program to celebrate its 150th anniversary.
The program, dubbed “#AliveWithBeauty,” consists of 150 NFTs and invites the Shiseido community to join in a mission to pioneer the future of beauty.
The NFTs were designed using artificial intelligence (AI) in collaboration with five inspiring women from Web3 and beauty.
This series of digital artworks are inspired by the flower camellia — symbolizing Shiseido’s past, present, and future innovation.
Those interested in getting the NFTs will be required to sign up, and only lucky winners will receive one and enter the Shiseido NFT community.
Having the NFT will provide holders with unique access to perks and rewards — such as £1000 worth of skincare and samples throughout the year.
Shiseido has a long history of embracing technology; in April of last year, the Japanese cosmetic brand collaborated with Revieve, an AI and AR technology company, to offer a tailored, digital makeup advisor experience.
Many cosmetics companies have decided to embrace Web3 in order to find new ways to promote beauty and diversity; last November, L’Oréal collaborated with Ready Player Me to offer a collection of gaming-inspired hair and makeup styles.
Several brands — including Laura Mercier and NYX Professional Makeup — have similarly created virtual stores in the metaverse to market their products or promote new collections.
