Azuki debuted the first episode of its anime series “Enter The Garden,” triggering a surge in non-fungible token (NFT) sales that surpassed $1 million within 24 hours.
Titled “The Waiting Man,” the first episode premiered on April 30, as previously announced. The episode showcases characters designed by Kinu Nishimura, drawing inspiration from NFTs within the Azuki collection.
The series unfolds within the realm of “The Garden,” weaving tales of anime characters through short animations. Each episode aims to leverage top talent from the anime industry, fostering collaborations with diverse creative teams in the Web3 space.
Following the episode’s release, sales of Ethereum-based NFTs from the Azuki collection experienced a significant uptick, reaching $1.13 million, according to data from CryptoSlam. Notable transactions in the past 24 hours include Azuki #4818 and #2043, each fetching over $30,000.
While this surge coincides with the anime series debut, it’s unclear if it solely drove the increase, given the collection’s positive trajectory over the past week.
Over the previous seven days, the collection witnessed a 166% surge in sales, amounting to over $2 million. This surge propels Azuki’s total sales volume to approximately $1.12 billion, securing its position as the eighth-largest collection in the market.
Despite falling short of 2022’s record-breaking numbers, the collection shows resilience amid market fluctuations.
Launched in January 2022 by Chiru Labs, the Azuki NFT collection comprises 10,000 anime avatars, each boasting unique attributes. The project has remained active within the space, fostering partnerships and community initiatives.
For instance, in January 2023, Azuki commemorated its first anniversary by launching “Hilumia,” a metaverse space for community members. Furthermore, in August 2023, Azuki collaborated with NFL star Patrick Mahomes, unveiling an exclusive trading card series presented by the Museum of Mahomes.
