The move-to-earn Web3 app STEPN has disclosed a new collaboration, teaming up with Illuvium, a renowned developer in the non-fungible token (NFT) gaming sector.
To mark this partnership, STEPN revealed the launch of NFT sneakers, minted on the Solana blockchain, via a tweet on X (Twitter). These sneakers bear the logo of Illuvium and draw inspiration from characters featured in its games.
A limited collection of 200 sneakers will be made available, with access to the minting phase secured through a raffle set to run from May 2 to 6. Participants will need 700 GMT (STEPN’s in-app currency) to enter the raffle, amounting to roughly $144, with refunds promised to those who aren’t fortunate enough to win.
While details about the collaboration remain undisclosed, this announcement follows closely on the heels of another significant partnership unveiled last month with Adidas. In celebration, STEPN released 1,000 NFT sneakers inspired by real-life Adidas models.
This latest venture adds to STEPN’s portfolio of relevant partnerships. In May 2022, the app collaborated with ASICS, resulting in the launch of a collection of ASICS-branded NFT sneakers.
These partnerships align with STEPN’s recent announcement of a $30 million airdrop campaign, designed to reward loyal players and holders of its platform.
Established in 2021, STEPN rewards users to engage in fitness activities like walking or running. Users can kickstart their earning journey by purchasing NFT sneakers, each boasting unique attributes and categories.
This partnership also marks a significant milestone for Illuvium, which, just last month, announced a collaboration with Samsung, seeking to integrate their respective “universes” for an enriched gaming experience.
Illuvium, touted as the world’s first IBG (Interoperable Blockchain Game), offers an open-world exploration, NFT creature collector, and autobattler game. It has emerged as a leader in the NFT gaming sector, evidenced by its successful Series A funding round in March, raising $12 million from investors including Arrington Capital and King River Capital. These funds are earmarked for developing additional games within the Illuvium Ecosystem.
