KINGSHIP, the virtual band formed by Universal Music Group’s next-generation Web3 label, 10:22 PM, has collaborated with Spotify to launch its first token-enabled playlist.
The playlist is exclusively available to KINGSHIP Key Card NFT holders on Spotify.
Holders will just need to select the playlist, press the play button, and then connect their wallets to unlock it.
For the time being, this pilot is only available to Android users in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, and New Zealand.
This step represents the virtual band’s first move toward “pushing the boundaries of music and blockchain.”
KINGSHIP was formed in 2021 following a series of purchases — including UMG’s acquisition of Bored Ape #5537 for over $360,000 with the goal of naming it the leader of the digital group.
The virtual band is currently made up of rare Bored Apes and a rare Mutant Ape named Captain (vocals, bass), KING (lead vocals), Arnell (beats, drums, producer), and Hud (guitar, keys, vocals).
After the foundation, UMG announced the launch of an NFT collection, which included 5,000 access-enabled Key Cards NFTs and sold out within two hours after release.
Since then, the virtual band has been involved in a variety of collaborations, including one with M&M’s to launch three limited edition products.
