The Japanese arm of Animoca Brands has unveiled plans to release non-fungible token (NFT) cards featuring characters from the popular Japanese manga series “Fairy Tail,” created by Hiro Mashima.
This inaugural series will feature 29 characters, with pivotal moments from the storyline turned into collectible art cards, each with varying rarity levels.
The cards will be distributed across three pack options: Standard, Ultra, and Mega, containing 3, 6, and 10 cards respectively. Prices for these packs are set at $1.49, $2.49, and $3.49.
Scheduled for launch on May 24, 2024, at 2 pm PDT, the Fairy Tail collection will be available exclusively through the Quidd NFT marketplace.
This initiative aligns with Animoca Brands Japan’s strategy to spearhead Web3 initiatives and market expansion within Japan. The company started this endeavor last month by collaborating with the blockchain game Nine Chronicles M. for NFT releases.
Additionally, it announced plans to introduce an NFT launchpad this summer, aimed at providing strategic marketing assistance and a sales platform for Web3 projects.
In April, Animoca Brands also partnered with Square Enix to broaden the global reach of the Symbiogenesis NFT project. This collaboration seeks to leverage Animoca Brands’ expertise and use its upcoming launchpad for NFT sales.
This recent focus on Japan is not new for Animoca Brands, as evidenced by its NFT collection launch last year, which brought characters from the “Liar Liar” anime to life as eFigurines.
Animoca Brands has a longstanding presence in the Web3 space, evident in its own projects such as Mocaverse, as well as its efforts to drive Web3 adoption. For instance, in March, it collaborated with KACST to establish a Web3 hub in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with the goal of fostering innovation, incubating startups, and promoting research in Web3, blockchain, gaming, and AI.
