KEY POINTS
Amidst market ups and downs, the popular CryptoPunks non-fungible token (NFT) collection continues to show strength, racking up daily sales nearing $1.4 million.
A big reason for this is the recent sale of CryptoPunk #741, which went for 270 ETH, or about $792,000 at the time of the transaction. This sale put #741 at the top of the list for NFT collectible sales across various blockchains in the past 7 days.
Apart from this standout sale, there have been several other notable transactions in recent days pushing up the daily sales numbers for the collection. In the last day alone, three CryptoPunks — #5687, #6526, and #7323 — sold for over $110,000 each.
Just three days ago, CryptoPunk #3619 sold for 40 ETH, more than $627,000 at the time.
In total, over the last week, sales volume for the collection has shot up by 63%, reaching over $5.9 million.
These recent transactions add to CryptoPunks’ history of smashing records. In March, CryptoPunk NFT #3100 sold for over $16 million, followed by Alien Punk #7804 two weeks later, which also fetched a similar sum.
More recently, CryptoPunk NFT #635 sold for over $12 million, reinforcing the collection’s significance.
Despite facing competition from Bitcoin NFTs, CryptoPunks has managed to hold onto its success as one of the leading Ethereum-based collections.
Although Ethereum briefly regained the top spot in daily NFT sales at the end of April, overall Ethereum-based NFT sales took a hit throughout the month, dropping to $240 million compared to March’s $489 million.
