LVMH, the luxury conglomerate behind esteemed brands such as Louis Vuitton and Fendi, has unveiled a strategic partnership with video game company Epic Games.
The collaboration between LVMH and Epic Games will enable the holding to harness the power of Epic’s cutting-edge 3D creation tools, leading to the development of immersive metaverse experiences for customers. These experiences will encompass virtual fitting rooms and fashion shows, as well as the creation of digital twins.
Epic’s key tools that LVMH will leverage include Unreal Engine, widely recognized as the world’s most advanced real-time 3D creation tool. Additionally, LVMH will employ Reality Capture, an innovative photogrammetry software solution that facilitates the conversion of photographs into detailed 3D models. Another tool LVMH will employ is MetaHuman, which streamlines the creation, animation, and use of highly realistic digital human characters.
Through this strategic partnership, LVMH aims to elevate its customer offerings by immersing them in new and engaging experiences while further refining its proficiency with 3D tools and the metaverse. LVMH’s maisons have already embarked on this mission through a series of significant initiatives.
In early June, Louis Vuitton announced the release of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) named “Treasure Trunks,” following the filing of trademark applications in 2022. This digital collectible project, called “Via,” draws inspiration from the iconic Louis Vuitton trunk and represents an important step toward LVMH’s exploration of NFTs and related technologies.
Dior Beauty, another member of the LVMH family, joined forces with Emperia in November 2022 to introduce a virtual store with a Christmas theme. Demonstrating a commitment to innovation, Bulgari collaborated with ZEPETO in September to launch a virtual pop-up store and café titled “Bulgari Sunset In Jeju.”
