FIFA’s recent non-fungible token (NFT) drop on its digital collectible platform, FIFA+ Collect, saw all 900 NFTs minted in less than 30 minutes during the public sale on December 19. The announcement of the sell-out was made on X (formerly Twitter).
Although the public mint concluded, the NFTs are still available for purchase on the OpenSea marketplace until December 22, starting at 130 MATIC, approximately $100 at the time of this writing.
NFT holders, based on the rarity of their tokens, now have the opportunity to access VIP experiences and claim physical, signed items.
The collection, unveiled on December 11 to celebrate the World Cup Saudi Arabia 2023, comprised a total of 1,000 NFTs. The rarest 100 were sold on December 15, while the remaining 900 were made available in the public sale on December 19.
This collection, introduced through FIFA+ Collect, marks FIFA’s first collaboration with Modex, a Web3 product development company.
Despite this being the initial collaboration with Modex, FIFA has previously ventured into the Web3 industry. In November 2022, FIFA launched a series of Web3 games for fan engagement during the World Cup Qatar 2022. Expanding its Web3 presence in August 2023, FIFA partnered with the Upland metaverse to bring the Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023 into the virtual realm.
