Qatar has officially stepped into the metaverse with the introduction of the “Qatar Adventure” on the Roblox platform.
As announced in a press release on December 19, this virtual experience, launched to commemorate the first anniversary of the Qatar World Cup 2022 final and Qatar National Day, showcases key landmarks of the country.
The virtual space features the Lusail Stadium, Qatar’s largest stadium and one of the eight venues built for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. It hosted the 2022 FIFA World Cup Final clash between Argentina and France.
Adjacent to the stadium stands the Katara Towers, owned by Katara Hospitality. These two towers, resembling crossed swords, pay tribute to Qatar’s national emblem.
In addition to exploration, visitors can participate in various activities, such as a pearl dive with whale sharks, a scavenger hunt for a dallah (a traditional Arabic coffee pot), and other water-based mini games.
This initiative materialized through collaboration between Q Life, a cultural platform under the State of Qatar’s International Media Office (IMO), and game developer Century Games.
The virtual experience finds its home on Livetopia, a popular virtual world within Roblox, and will remain accessible until February 8, 2024.
This marks Qatar’s latest foray into the Web3 space. Earlier in the year, Qatar Airways, the flag carrier of Qatar, introduced the Qverse metaverse, allowing users to explore exclusive areas like the premium check-in zone at Hamad International Airport, the luxurious Qsuite business class, and the economy class cabin on the Boeing 777-300.
