Qatar Airways, the national airline of Qatar that operates flights to over 160 destinations worldwide, has expanded its offerings in the metaverse.
Last year, Qatar Airways made a significant foray into the world of virtual reality (VR) with the introduction of Qverse, an immersive VR experience. Initially, users could explore exclusive areas such as the premium check-in zone at Hamad International Airport, the luxurious Qsuite business class, and the comfortable economy class cabin on the Boeing 777-300.
Building on the success of Qverse, Qatar Airways has now expanded its virtual destinations to include even more exciting options. Users can now embark on virtual journeys through the business class suite and economy class of the Boeing 787-9, the Qsuite and economy class of the Airbus A350-1000, and experience the opulence of the Al Safwa First Class Lounge and the Al Mourjan Business Class Lounge at Hamad International Airport.
A virtual hostess from Qatar Airways guides visitors through each location, providing detailed information and characteristics of each area.
While exploring these virtual places, users may also come across discounts that can be applied when booking premium or economy class tickets with Qatar Airways.
The virtual reality experience is currently available in 13 languages, catering to a wide range of international users. This includes languages such as French, Italian, Chinese, and Spanish.
Qatar Airways joins other airlines in embracing Web3 technology. Last month, All Nippon Airways (ANA) and its subsidiary virtual platform ANA NEO announced plans to launch a non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace featuring digital collectibles with an aviation theme.
In a similar move, Flybondi partnered with TravelX in March to offer flight tickets as NFTs, providing greater flexibility, transparency, and security. Emirates Airline also announced plans in 2022 to enter the metaverse and launch NFTs.
