Animoca Brands has announced the expansion of its non-fungible token (NFT) project, Mocaverse, into the South Korean market to integrate and export Korean Web3 culture through a multi-partner activation.
As outlined in a press release shared with Cryptoflies, the company has entered into partnerships with Cube Entertainment, IPX (formerly LINE Friends), Korean Web3 gaming studios Planetarium Labs and Gomble Games, and Bellygom, an NFT initiative by LOTTE Group.
These new partners will join the Mocaverse ecosystem, offering holders of Moca IDs — which function as on-chain decentralized identities (DIDs) — access to new Web3 games, experiences, and reward opportunities.
Among the outcomes of these partnerships are a (G)I-DLE x Mocaverse mashup video featuring (G)I-DLE’s popular song “Queencard” and a phygital cross-over with the LINE Friends collection designed to engage fans and introduce more retail users to Web3.
These collaborations complement Animoca Brands’ existing partnerships aimed at expanding the Mocaverse project. On February 16, the company partnered with leading crypto wallets such as OKX, Crypto.com, and Halo, enabling users of these wallets to claim Moca IDs and access the NFT ecosystem and real-life rewards. Additionally, in November 2023, it partnered with Ubisoft to advance Mocaverse’s Web3 gaming initiatives.
Mocaverse made its debut in 2022 with the release of 8,888 PFP NFTs, which generated over $5.6 million in volume within just 48 hours of launch. Each Mocaverse NFT is equipped with utilities such as masterclasses, in-game assets, accelerator programs, and more.
In June 2023, Animoca Brands collaborated with Rarible to establish a dedicated marketplace for Mocaverse NFTs. A few months later, the company secured $20 million in funding, led by CMCC Global, to further support the Mocaverse NFT project.
