Move-to-earn non-fungible token (NFT) app Stepn has announced a collaboration with Unstoppable Domains to launch “.stepn” Web3 domains.
These personalized domains aim to simplify cryptocurrency transactions by replacing long, complex wallet addresses with easy-to-remember names (e.g., “yourname.eth” instead of “0x1234…abcd”). This change makes transactions more user-friendly and reduces the risk of errors when sending or receiving cryptocurrency.
The new .stepn domains will allow users to easily send and receive cryptocurrencies, including Stepn’s native token, GMT. They also provide access to profile badges for Group Chat and over 865 integrations across wallets, exchanges, games, metaverses, and other platforms.
Web3 domains can be used across multiple blockchains, including Solana, other EVM, non-EVM addresses, and decentralized applications (dApps).
“.stepn enables us to grow our brand by enabling our users to be ambassadors for Stepn across social, Web3 communities, and applications via the branded domain extension,” said Yawn Rong, Co-Founder at Stepn.
Launched in 2022, Stepn has gained popularity in the Web3 space by rewarding users for physical activities such as walking, jogging, and running. Users engage in these activities using NFT sneakers within the app and earn GST tokens as rewards.
Throughout time, Stepn has partnered with various brands to launch limited-edition NFT sneakers and expand its reach. Notable collaborations include partnerships with Illuvium, Adidas, and Asics.
Recently, the company introduced “Stepn Go,” a new app that incorporates social features and a new token. Stepn Go allows users to lend NFT sneakers, earn a new token called GGT, and customize avatars within the app.
However, the launch of Stepn Go has not been well received by the community. Users have expressed concerns about the potential replacement of the original app and a lack of clear explanations regarding its functionalities.
