Football media company OneFootball has announced a partnership with Animoca Brands’ Mocaverse to launch Football ID — a decentralized identifier (DID) and reputation layer designed to bring football fans worldwide into the Web3 space.
Through this collaboration, over 200 million users on OneFootball will have the chance to claim their Football ID on-chain. This will work as a digital passport that will enable fans to record and reward their engagement with the sport.
Football ID users will also be able to access a variety of rewarding experiences including gaming, sports, music, and more within the Moca Network, and earn Realm Points.
Patrick Fischer, CEO of OneFootball, stated, “Our mission has always been to connect the world of football. Football ID will become our gateway to enable users to engage in a more meaningful and rewarding way, while embracing the future of digital identity and fan engagement.”
This initiative is a part of Mocaverse’s efforts to expand its network. The project began in 2022 as a collection of 8,888 PFP NFTs, providing various utilities to holders. Within 48 hours of its launch, the collection achieved a sales volume of over $5.6 million.
Last year, Animoca Brands secured $20 million in funding, led by CMCC Global, to support the Mocaverse NFT project. The company also partnered with top crypto wallets like OKX, Crypto.com, and Halo, enhancing user access to the Mocaverse NFT ecosystem and real-life rewards.
Two months ago, Animoca Brands teamed up with CoinList to introduce “MocaList,” a token launch platform for the Mocaverse NFT community. This initiative started with the launch of the MOCA Coin.
