KEY POINTS
Cryptocurrency exchange Bitget has announced the rollout of the Blockchain4Her (B4H) Ambassador Program, designed to enhance the inclusivity of women within Web3.
Recognizing the evident gender gap in Web3 engagement and funding acquisition, the initiative seeks to address this disparity.
According to a 2022 report by Morning Consult, men represent 72% of crypto holders, while women account for just 28%. Moreover, the report highlights that 95% of crypto founders and over 90% of crypto partners are male.
The program aims to enlist female figures as role models and mentors, fostering an environment that encourages broader participation. It seeks to elevate women’s roles within Web3 through events and projects that follow a multifaceted approach, including role modeling, networking, active involvement, and targeted support.
The B4H program has already welcomed three prominent female leaders: Tess Hau, founder of Tess Ventures; Yevheniia Broshevan, Co-founder of Hacken; and Cecilia Hsueh, CEO of the Layer 2 ecosystem project Morph.
This marks Bitget’s third corporate social responsibility (CSR) endeavor, following the successful Blockchain4Youth and Blockchain4Her initiatives, each supported by a $10 million commitment.
Bitget’s initiative aligns with broader efforts in the industry to empower and celebrate women.
In October, Manchester City collaborated with the non-fungible token (NFT) project Power of Women to launch the “Same City, Same Passion” NFT collection, celebrating women’s football through dynamic art by Leah Ibrahim Sams.
Similarly, in June 2022, Oregon’s Division Street unveiled the “Visions of Flight” NFT collection in partnership with Sedona Prince and 11 University of Oregon women athletes, aimed at supporting women student-athletes in the state.
