Lost Worlds, the first-ever location-based non-fungible token (NFT) platform, has announced the launch of a new Creation Portal that simplifies the creation and deployment of geographically-linked digital collectibles, known as “geoNFTs.”
Similar to the popular augmented reality game Pokémon Go, Lost Worlds offers NFT enthusiasts the opportunity to discover NFT drops in their local area and around the world. These digital collectibles are intricately linked to physical locations, enhancing the interactive experience for users.
Upon accessing the platform’s website, users can connect their wallets, activate geolocalization, and explore the map to locate geoNFT drops nearby or worldwide. Once within a drop zone, users can mint their geoNFTs.
This means businesses of various sectors, such as museums, theme parks, retail stores, and restaurants, can leverage geoNFTs to enhance customer engagement and foster loyalty.
The newly launched Creation Portal simplifies the creation and sharing of geoNFTs. Previously, creators needed to work closely with the Lost Worlds team to produce and release these digital collectibles. Now, with the introduction of the new portal, the process becomes accessible to everyone.
Plus, users can now mint geoNFTs directly from their web browsers, eliminating the previous reliance on mobile applications.
Looking ahead, Lost Worlds envisions further enhancements to the Creation Portal, including expanded support for various location types and enhanced automation features, such as airdrops, teleportation functionalities, bounties, and GameFi check-ins.
This isn’t the first instance of NFTs intersecting with a Pokemon Go-style game. In April 2023, Jack Daniel’s, the renowned Tennessee whiskey brand, collaborated with Yahoo Creative Studios to introduce a similar game in five Australian cities. This AR-driven experience leveraged a map-based system to distribute AR rewards and Jack Daniel’s boxes based on players’ real-world locations.
