WoV Labs, a Web3 studio, recently introduced the “W3as” fashion collection, integrating non-fungible tokens (NFTs) powered by VeChain.
The collection features two exclusive jackets crafted in Italy. Both jackets sport the W3as label on the left wrist, leveraging WoV Labs’ smart tags solution.
This solution incorporates NFC technology, enabling the digitalization of the jacket. Owners can scan the W3as label with their smartphones to claim ownership and view a digital representation of the garment on their device.
Additionally, W3as has partnered with two popular NFT collections — CryptoPunks and World of Women — setting aside 150 jackets for their respective communities. Holders of NFTs from these collections can customize their jackets with their owned NFT.
In an X (Twitter) post, W3as explained their choice of collaborating with CryptoPunks and World of Women, citing “They both have a touch of class, a strong sense of community, and take pride in showing off their NFTs, firmly believing in the power of their networks.” And continued, “In these groups, we see a reflection of our own beliefs, which is why we believe they deserve a fashion statement that aligns with their style in the physical world.”
This initiative follows a trend where physical fashion intersects with the digital realm.
VeChain, known for powering similar ventures, recently collaborated with UFC to introduce NFC blockchain-integrated fighter gloves, ensuring comfort, security, and enhancing post-event engagement.
In March, VeChain partnered with Venum to launch a product line integrating NFTs, NFC, and blockchain technologies at its São Paulo store.
The fashion industry has witnessed significant transformations with the adoption of Web3 technologies, particularly NFTs, which leverage blockchain to authenticate ownership. This solves a longstanding challenge within the sector — counterfeiting.
In 2023, fashion NFT sales reached $245 million, with optimistic projections for the future. According to Allied Analytics, the global digital fashion market is expected to soar to $4.8 billion by 2031.
