VeChain continues its collaboration with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), introducing new fighter gloves embedded with Near Field Communication (NFC) blockchain technology.
As outlined in a press release dated April 12, these gloves, showcased during UFC 300, enhance comfort and security for fighters while integrating advanced technology to enable authentication and open avenues for heightened post-event engagement among brands, athletes, and fans.
In celebration of the glove launch, a limited edition of 25 pairs of gloves has been minted and distributed among a select group of notable personalities, including UFC color commentator Joe Rogan.
The integration of NFC technology into the gloves serves a dual purpose — authenticating the gear and introducing new ways to engage with fans. This can range from personalized content tailored to individual fans to exclusive offers and experiences.
NFC technology ensures the authenticity of the item in the case of sale or trade, effectively tackling the issue of fraud often encountered in secondary markets.
VeChain and UFC started their global marketing partnership in 2022, granting VeChain exposure to 900 million households worldwide while advancing blockchain awareness and adoption.
This latest release underscores VeChain’s ongoing efforts to leverage real-world assets (RWAs) to tackle challenges like authenticity and provenance.
In a previous collaboration in November 2023, VeChain teamed up with sports brand Venum to introduce a product line featuring NFT, NFC, and blockchain technologies, available at its newly opened store in São Paulo, Brazil.
To further propel the adoption of NFTs and blockchain technology, VeChain has recently introduced a “Marketplace-as-a-Service (MaaS)” platform, designed to streamline the creation and sale of NFTs for businesses and individuals. Gresini Racing became the inaugural adopter of VeChain’s MaaS, using the platform to offer fans iconic MotoGP moments as NFTs.
