Yesterday, a federal judge in Florida indefinitely postponed the criminal trial involving classified documents associated with former President Donald Trump. In the meantime, Trump is preparing for a dinner tonight with the holders of his “Mugshot” non-fungible token (NFT) collection.
Dubbed the “Trump Gala,” the dinner is set to unfold at Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s residence and members-only club located in Palm Beach, Florida.
This marks the second event of its kind, with the inaugural one taking place last year. Attendees flew in from across the globe to partake in the gala dinner.
“Attending the Gala Dinner was awesome. Being with President Trump, hearing his stories firsthand – it’s something I’ll never forget. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience I will share with my kids one day,” wrote an attendee from Australia last year.
Tonight’s dinner is exclusive to those who purchased at least 47 digital card NFTs last December, each priced at $99, totaling $4,653. Trump’s third NFT collection differed from previous releases, offering buyers the opportunity to receive a physical card featuring a fragment of the suit he wore during his formal arrest in Fulton County, Georgia, on August 24, 2024.
The first trading card collection debuted in December 2022, showcasing Trump in various roles, including an astronaut, golfer, trader, cowboy, and Superman, among others. This assortment seemingly aimed to underscore Trump’s “excellent fit for any situation.”
Following the success of the initial release, a second collection in a similar vein was launched in April 2023.
These ventures proved lucrative: reports shows that by December 2023, Trump had divested his Ethereum (ETH) holdings, amounting to $2.4 million, following months of accruing royalties from his NFT ventures, according to the crypto intelligence platform Arkham.
