Puma is forging ahead on its Web3 journey with the expansion of its Black Station metaverse experience, a virtual world that merges the digital and physical realms.
The brand recently unveiled “Black Station 2,” featuring two distinct virtual worlds for visitors to explore: Unkai, inspired by Japan’s vibrant Shibuya district, and Unter, drawing inspiration from Berlin’s thriving club culture.
In the Unkai world, users can float through the sky among towering Puma shoes and the beloved Super Puma mascot. On the other hand, Unter takes users deep underground into a captivating red-lit cave.
While both worlds will be open for exploration by anyone, exclusive benefits await holders of RB tokens, which have been airdropped to PUMA Pass Holders. These token holders will have the privilege of purchasing the physical Rulebreaker sneaker, a limited-edition footwear item that won’t be available to the general public until 2024. Additionally, they will be able to claim two exclusive digital wearables.
The limited edition sneakers include two options: the Fast-RB Unkai and the Fast-RB Unter. The Unkai variant is purely a digital collectible, accessible for free with users only needing to cover the gas transaction fees. On the other hand, the Unter variant is a unique “phygital” offering, priced at 0.1 ETH or $173.
Puma’s first venture into the web3 space, Black Station 1, was launched in September 2022 to coincide with its FUTROGRADE show during New York Fashion Week.
Black Station 1 gave visitors the choice between two worlds: Nitro NFRNO and Nitro Fastroid sneakers, which were connected to PUMA’s NFT Nitropass mint. Holders of Nitropass had the opportunity to receive two NFTs—one tied to physical products and another unlocking a personalized experience related to their chosen shoe.
Apart from the Black Station metaverse, Puma has been actively involved in various other initiatives. In February 2023, the brand announced the release of a new NFT collection called “Super Puma” to celebrate its 75th anniversary.
Additionally, Puma partnered with Yuga Labs’ acquired Web3 brand 10KTF in April 2023 to launch “Grailed PUMA Slipstream,” a collection of sneakers available in both physical and NFT versions.
