Venture capital company Animoca Brands has taken another significant step into the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) through its subsidiary, Darewise Entertainment. Darewise, known for the Life Beyond game, has partnered with Honda to co-develop transportation and vehicle-related features for the game.
Life Beyond is a sci-fi gaming metaverse where players aim to “build a civilization on a new world.” NFTs power the game, and it operates with a player-driven tokenized economy.
As part of their collaboration, Honda and Darewise will work together to create new gameplay and game assets for Life Beyond, including in-game items and activities.
While specific details are yet to be disclosed, an announcement is expected soon on the game’s website, according to a press release shared on January 22.
Darewise secured $3.5 million in October 2023 through a presale of its upcoming token to further develop its Bitcoin metaverse ecosystem. Animoca Brands acquired Darewise in 2022, with a focus on supporting the company in Web3 developments.
Animoca Brands has been actively investing in Web3-related ventures, expanding its portfolio. In October 2023, the company acquired Azarus, a Web3 gaming platform, to strengthen its position in the industry.
Animoca Brands has also launched its own Web3 initiatives, such as the Mocaverse NFT collection, which generated over $5.6 million in the first 48 hours of minting.
In June 2023, Animoca Brands partnered with Rarible to create a dedicated marketplace for its Mocaverse NFTs. Additionally, the company collaborated with Ubisoft in November to advance Mocaverse’s Web3 gaming initiatives by integrating with Ubisoft’s upcoming game, Champions Tactics Grimoria Chronicles.
The move towards Web3 gaming aligns with the market’s anticipated growth. Future Market Insights predicts that the Web3 gaming market is likely to exceed $133,228.2 million by 2033.
