Sportswear giant Adidas is making a significant move with the launch of its first Web3 program, “Residency.”
This program is designed to empower NFT artists, fostering creativity and innovation while providing a unique avenue for digital artists to connect with both the Adidas brand and a thriving community of collectors.
To kick off this exciting venture, Adidas has introduced two talented artists: Tokyo-based Moto, also known as MonkeeMoto, and Lebanese artist Adra Kandil, known as DearNostalgia.
The artistic offerings include two open edition pieces named ‘Seoul’ and ‘Creatives,’ priced at ETH 0.03, equivalent to around $50.
Additionally, there are two limited edition artworks titled ‘Soul Searching /// Youth Is Your Privilege’ and ‘Hype.’ The limited edition pieces are exclusive, with only 100 available per artist, and each purchase includes an exclusive hoodie reserved for launch event attendees. The package is priced at ETH 0.15, roughly $245.
Both editions can be acquired through Manifold using either ETH or a credit card, with sales beginning on Wednesday, September 6.
The artworks will be also displayed at the two-day Gateway Korean Blockchain Week event in Seoul, Korea. Holders of an ALTS by Adidas NFT can register for a VIP event ticket, granting access to the VIP opening event on September 6.
This isn’t the first Adidas’s foray into the Web3 space. Last month, the brand announced a unique collaboration with BAPE, featuring an NFT-driven sneaker release to celebrate BAPE’s 30th anniversary. These limited edition sneakers came complete with digital certificates and paired NFTs.
In June, Adidas partnered with Web3 artist Fewocious to introduce NFT-gated sneakers, merging distinctive digital artwork with limited-edition footwear. In April, the sportswear giant unveiled the third phase of its “Into the Metaverse” initiative, enabling NFT holders to exchange Phase 1 and 2 NFTs for coveted ALTS NFTs.
