Adidas has recently unveiled a partnership with renowned Japanese fashion brand A Bathing Ape (BAPE) for a non-fungible token (NFT) drop tied to a unique product offering.
This collaboration marks a highlight of BAPE’s 30th-anniversary celebrations, featuring the coveted limited-edition Forum 84 BAPE Low Triple-White sneaker.
The all-white sneaker design showcases a shooting star motif adorning the lateral upper, accompanied by the elegant “A Bathing Ape” inscription embossed in shimmering silver metallic foil.
Each pair of these sneakers incorporates a Near-field communication (NFC) chip integrated into the left tongue, granting owners access to a digital certificate of authenticity.
Taking the partnership even further, the brands have teamed up with MoonPay to introduce a compelling twist: every pair of sneakers will be accompanied by a linked NFT. The NFTs are limited to a total of 100, precisely matching the number of corresponding sneaker pairs.
Scheduled to begin on August 22 through the Adidas Collect platform, the Adidas Originals x BAPE Fresh Forum NFT auction is set to last 72 hours, ending on August 25. The auction will start with a minimum bid price of 0.3 ETH, around $550.
Auction winners will be entitled to redeem their physical sneaker pair on September 26, with shipping operations beginning in October.
This isn’t Adidas’ first venture into the realm of Web3. With its first foray dating back to 2021, the brand has been steadily paving its path in this innovative landscape. In one of its latest efforts, Adidas joined forces with Web3 artist Fewocious to introduce a fusion of NFT-secured sneakers, blending unique digital artworks with exclusive limited-edition footwear offerings.
