Deep Forest, a French music project that originally began as a duo, has announced the launch of a non-fungible token (NFT) collection to commemorate Eric Mouquet’s 30th anniversary of winning a Grammy Award for the Best World Music Album.
The collection, titled “Ethereal Echoes,” was created in collaboration with ICI Bucarest and xFabric and is powered by Itheum’s DataNFT technology.
It features 90 NFTs, divided into nine categories, each named after an album by Deep Forest. Each NFT comes with unique artwork and an unreleased bonus track. Additionally, one NFT in each category will include a personal message from Eric Mouquet to its owner.
NFT holders will gain access to various real-life perks, such as entry to concerts, unreleased versions of tracks, and physical items.
The collection was unveiled at NFT Bucharest, Eastern Europe’s first major NFT conference, on May 9. It is now available for purchase through ICI D|Services, the world’s first state-governed NFT marketplace, which launched in April 2023.
NFTs have become a popular way for musical artists to engage more closely with their fans, offering exclusive perks and sharing revenue from their songs.
Earlier this year, other musicians have also embraced NFTs. In March, rapper Ghostface Killah announced a Bitcoin-based NFT collection in collaboration with Nakamotos on BTC, Rare Scrilla, and OrdinalsBot, which included free minting of 10,000 NFTs with CC0 IP rights.
In February 2023, Deputy, a multi-platinum music producer known for his work with Kanye West, Travis Scott, and WondaGurl on Rihanna’s hit song “B**** Better Have My Money,” offered a percentage of his streaming royalties to fans through NFTs.
Additionally, in September 2023, Justin Bieber’s hit song “Company” was turned into an NFT, allowing fans to own a 1% royalty share in 2,000 limited NFTs released by co-producer Axident on anotherblock.
