Sam Simmons, former President of PokerGO and now Consulting Chief Strategy Officer of NFT Stadium, began dabbling in the Web3 space in 2017 while passively investing in crypto. In early 2021, he dove headfirst into the NFT world and instantly saw massive potential in the technology.
“Buying my first NFT was an eye-opening experience,” Simmons recalls. “The psychology of holding a digital asset uniquely mine with that asset still being connected to a broader community was different from any experience I had encountered in Web3.”
Simmons spent hours buying and trading NFTs while learning more about the space. Throughout the process, he began ideating potential use cases for the technology. From his prior role as President of PokerGO, Simmons saw a glaring need for IP holders, and in particular streaming content providers, to form deeper connections with their most passionate fans who are often measured solely through streaming metrics or TV ratings.
