Following the filing of a trademark application for its brand Snickers, Mars has just submitted a trademark application for its world-renowned brand M&M’s, the multi-colored button-shaped chocolates.
The corporation wishes to concretize its desire to move the brand into the metaverse and NFT space with this application.
Specifically, the application, submitted to the USPTO on June 20, specifies the company’s desire to provide:
- NFTs;
- Virtual goods, namely chocolate, confectionery, candy, snacks, and drinks;
- Online virtual store environments featuring virtual products;
- Crypto-collectibles, digital currency, virtual reality content, and more.
The news was shared earlier today via Twitter by trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis.

Increasingly, trademark filings related to NFTs and metaverse are being filed, and the food industry seems to be one of the most active.
UTZ, Conagra Brands, Panera Bread, Wingstop, Panda Express, McDonald’s, and others have also applied for trademarks to enter the metaverse with virtual food.
