Renowned tire company Michelin is taking a step into the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) by introducing a digital collection featuring its beloved mascot, the Michelin Man.
The NFT collection, dubbed “Michelin 3xplorer Club” (M3C), features 5,000 unique NFTs, each serving as a digital representation of the iconic Michelin Man, aka Bibendum — a white, rotund character made of stacked, tire-like rubber rings.
NFT holders will gain access to an exclusive community centered around two passions that the Michelin brand is renowned for — cars and food.
As community members, holders will be able to get access to various perks, including the chance to attend Michelin Experiences and receive priority access to future NFT drops.
M3C holders will also become members of the “Web3 3xplorer Guide.” This platform will allow them to play a pivotal role in selecting and voting for their preferred Web3 projects. It’s an experience that mirrors the real-world Michelin Guide — a famous restaurant and hotel rating system, known for awarding stars to top establishments — but for Web3 projects.
The Michelin 3xplorer Club collection is scheduled to be unveiled on Monday, October 16, 2023. Each NFT will be priced at 0.05 ETH, roughly equivalent to $80.
Michelin has collaborated with a trio of experts in the Web3 and NFT space to bring this project to life. These partners include getbulldog.xyz, a startup specializing in Web3 and NFTs, Goeland Studio, an agency with expertise in virtual and augmented reality, and Metav.rs, a company specialized in crafting immersive Web3 experiences.
The M3C NFT collection represents the first phase of Michelin’s broader Web3 strategy. Its official Discord channel has shared a roadmap that teases upcoming plans, such as future NFT drops, like the Michelin Heritage NFT collection slated for early 2024. M3C holders will gain free minting access for this upcoming release.
