Former first lady Melania Trump recently unveiled a non-fungible token (NFT) collection commemorating the historic Apollo 11 mission, which marked the first human landing on the moon.
Titled “Man on the Moon,” the collection showcases an exclusive rotating silver digital card with a 3D representation of the moon, featuring the iconic 1969 photograph of astronaut Buzz Aldrin. The back of the card displays the memorable words “One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”
Each NFT is currently priced at $75, and as of the time of writing, there are still 453 pieces available for purchase. The collection is accessible through the renowned platform USA Memorabilia, which specializes in digital collectibles with a focus on American history.
Buyers of these NFTs will gain access to a unique audio component upon completing the purchase, as outlined on the website.
However, some concerns have arisen regarding the use of NASA’s images in the NFT collection. According to an official NASA document, the agency does not authorize the use of its images in connection with NFTs, nor does it approve any merchandising applications involving them.
Despite these guidelines, it remains unclear whether any action has been taken against USA Memorabilia in this specific case, and the potential legal implications are yet to be determined.
In the midst of these potential issues, Melania Trump appears unperturbed, actively promoting the “Man on the Moon” collection on her Twitter profile.
Melania Trump has been increasingly involved in the Web3 space, having recently launched an NFT collection to celebrate Independence Day on July 4.
The “Man on the Moon” collection adds to her growing portfolio of NFT-related projects. Her journey into the NFT world began in December 2021 when she introduced her first NFT collection. Since then, she has continuously revealed new NFT releases, and even her husband, Donald Trump, has joined in, presenting his own set of NFT trading cards featuring various funny depictions of himself.
