Beauty brand NARS Cosmetics is venturing into the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) with the launch of a new collection.
Named “Orgasm, Activated,” the NFT collection draws inspiration from the vibrant colors and textures of NARS’ iconic “Orgasm” makeup shade. This collection aims to celebrate National Orgasm Day on July 31, 2023, an event dedicated to embracing sexual climax and raising awareness about related issues.
The collaboration behind this creative venture involves five talented artists—Dr. Alex Box, Serwah Attafuah, Nina “Ninocence” Hawkins, Clara Bacou, and Damara Ingles.
These Ethereum-based NFTs will be up for auction on the SuperRare platform starting on July 25.
Bidders who secure NFTs from the auction will enjoy exclusive benefits, including an Infinite Objects video frame displaying the NFT, a selection of NARS “Orgasm” cosmetics products, and a personal consultation with a makeup artist from the brand.
Each NFT comes with an augmented reality (AR) filter counterpart. These AR filters will be accessible through NARS’ Instagram account on July 31.
This isn’t the first time NARS Cosmetics has dipped its toes into the NFT world. Back in 2021, the brand collaborated with three talented female artists, including a music producer and a fashion designer, to create NFTs inspired by its renowned Orgasm blush. Earlier this month, the company entered the Roblox metaverse launching the “NARSSweetRush” virtual experience.
NARS Cosmetics now joins other beauty brands that are exploring the possibilities of the Web3 space. For instance, L’Occitane recently collaborated with Emperia to enter the metaverse with a virtual store. Moreover, Elizabeth Arden, Clinique, Laura Mercier, and various other prominent brands have already opened their virtual doors, offering customers immersive experiences in the digital realm.
