American multinational financial services corporation Mastercard has filled 15 trademark applications for “MASTERCARD,” “PRICELESS,” and its Circles logo expressing its intention to enter the metaverse and embrace non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
According to the trademark applications, the company aims to provide multimedia files authenticated by NFTs and marketplaces for digital goods and NFT backed media.
Also, its plans include the “processing of virtual credit card, virtual debit card, virtual prepaid card, and virtual payment card transactions in the metaverse,” and providing financial information in the metaverse and other virtual worlds.
To add more, Mastercard aims to create and provide events and performances in the metaverse in the fields of finance, cryptocurrency, and NFTs.

Mastercard has been very active in the world of cryptocurrencies and NFTs. Last year, it released crypto-linked payment cards in Asia Pacific, and in January it partnered with Coinbase to enable users to purchase NFTs with their Mastercards.
