An unreleased version of David Bowie’s 1983 song “Let’s Dance” will be made available as part of a limited-edition non-fungible token (NFT) collection.
The NFTs will be published by blockchain gaming platform Gala Music, a subsidiary of Gala Games, in collaboration with songwriter Larry Dvoskin and music publishing company Warner Chappell Music.
The collection will include 3,003 NFTs and will be released on April 14, the 40th anniversary of the released song.
Each NFT entitles holders to an unreleased version of the song, which Dvoskin co-produced with Bowie in 2002.
Profits from the sale will benefit MusiCares, a non-profit music organization devoted to providing health and human support to the music business.
This is not the first time David Bowie has been the subject of a Web3-related initiative; last month, Getty Images and Candy Digital announced the release of the ’70s Music & Culture NFT collection, with the first volume featuring 60 single-image digital collectibles highlighting renowned musicians including David Bowie.
Melos Studio issued a David Bowie tribute music NFT collection on the Starly NFT marketplace in January 2022, while David Bowie’s Estate released the “Bowie On The Blockchain” NFT collection in September.
