Peter Silverstone, Newcastle United’s chief commercial officer, expressed enthusiasm regarding the collaboration, noting, “This innovative partnership with Quidd will allow us to reach, and engage, club supporters through an exciting digital collection which will augment our much-anticipated future retail offering.”
This partnership underscores a growing trend within the footballing world, with clubs increasingly exploring opportunities in the Web3 space to deliver new while establishing closer connections with them.
For instance, the French football club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) teamed up with Crypto.com in September 2023 to unveil a collection of NFTs featuring AI-generated posters.
Similarly, FC Barcelona and Plastiks joined forces in May 2023 to launch an NFT collection advocating for environmental sustainability. Back in 2022, Sorare solidified its premium partnership with AC Milan, serving as the official NFT fantasy football game partner, further propelling the club’s Web 3.0 endeavors.
