Disney Music Group, the music recording arm of Disney Platform Distribution, has collaborated with Obsess, a virtual shop platform for immersive e-commerce, to launch the Disney Music Emporium virtual experience.
This totally immersive experience will allow fans to find, listen to, learn about, and buy soundtracks and songs from Disney’s massive collection.
A comprehensive selection of Disney film and TV soundtracks will be available as part of the virtual experience, including the 1928 debut of Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Steamboat Willie, the first synchronized sound cartoon, 1937’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and 1940’s Fantasia, with a score performed by Philadelphia Orchestra.
Within the virtual experience, users may browse Disney’s repertoire by selecting different digital cards grouped by year, from the 1920s through the 2020s. Each virtual card features the cartoon’s name, a brief description, and a QR code that users can scan to access the soundtrack on Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, and other sites.
The Disney Music Emporium virtual experience would allow Disney to build a more personal connection with its followers by allowing them to relive their favorite songs and feelings from their infancy.
So far, Disney has taken a number of moves down a Web3 road. It began in November with the release of NFTs featuring characters from its most popular movies, followed by the “Steamboat Willie” Mickey Mouse NFT collection in December.
Furthermore, in order to prepare for its metaverse and NFT entry, the company has been active in hiring Web3 professionals, including a business development manager and a corporate attorney to assist with due diligence on projects involving NFTs, blockchains, and other technologies.
