Casio G-Shock has joined forces with the popular non-fungible token (NFT) project Doodles to introduce an NFT-inspired watch collection.
Doodles announced the collaboration on January 31 through a post on X (Twitter). The post featured a video showcasing a Doodle character sporting a Casio G-Shock watch — the company’s timepiece line known for its durability against mechanical stress, shock, and vibration.
While specific details about the collaboration are yet to be disclosed, the post suggests that the drop is imminent.
Following the announcement, the Doodles NFT collection has experienced a significant surge in sales (+140.35%) and volume (+132.89%) in the last 24 hours.
This collaboration adds to Doodles’ track record of partnering with well-established brands. In August 2023, it collaborated with Crocs for a limited-edition physical Classic Clog and NFTs. In May 2023, Doodles joined forces with Pharrell Williams for an exclusive NFT drop titled “The Pharrell Pack.”
For Casio, this collaboration with Doodles signifies a further exploration into the Web3 space. In August 2023, Casio filed a trademark application signaling its entry into the metaverse and NFT world. The next month, it unveiled the Virtual G-Shock project, which began with the release of 15,000 free limited-edition NFT passes on Polygon.
Building on this, Casio introduced a series of initiatives in the following months. In October, it launched its first metaverse watch store in partnership with VRchat. November saw the release of an NFT series featuring futuristic interpretations of G-Shock watches, while December unveiled “G-Shock The Ride,” a metaverse experience enabling users to virtually stress-test G-SHOCK watches.
