Arbitrum and AnimeCoin have announced a collaboration to introduce an anime-focused Web3 project dubbed “AnimeChain.”
The news broke through an X (Twitter) post on March 27 by Arbitrum, revealing that Azuki, the popular non-fungible token (NFT) project, would be the first partner in this venture.
While detailed specifics about the project remain undisclosed, Azuki hinted at its ambitions in another X post, stating, “With our anime productions, games, and physical products, we will showcase the power of a decentralized model for growing IP on AnimeChain.”
This hints at the creation of an ecosystem empowering the community and serving as a central hub for anime content, games, merchandise, and NFTs.
The head of growth at Azuki, also a contributor at AnimeCoin, known by the pseudonym Whizwang on X, expressed excitement about the potential of Arbitrum for AnimeChain.
The post highlighted Arbitrum’s position as the leading Layer 2 scaling solution on Ethereum, boasting over $17 billion in bridged total value locked (TVL) — the total US dollar value of digital assets locked or staked — and catering to 5 million monthly active users.
The Arbitrum ecosystem currently hosts over 600 decentralized applications (dApps) and more than 90 games, including notable titles like the “Hytopia” game developed by the Microsoft community.
On the other hand, Azuki has emerged as a prominent NFT project within the anime domain. Launched in 2022, Azuki comprises a collection of 10,000 NFTs featuring various anime-inspired characters.
According to CoinMarketCap data, the Azuki collection has garnered a total volume of $3.2 billion, with a floor price hovering around 5.5 ETH, approximately $20,000.
Azuki swiftly evolved from a mere collection into a thriving community and eventually expanded into an ecosystem, prompting its creator, Chiru Labs, to also venture into the metaverse with the launch of “Hilumia,” a virtual space dedicated to its community members.
