Gucci has presented the first result of its collaboration with Yuga Labs’ Otherside metaverse project: the KodaPendant.
The KodaPendant represents the first relic in the Otherside Relics by Gucci collection; it is a Gucci-branded pendant available in both digital and physical form and reflects the fashion brand’s participation in Otherside’s Legends of the Mara project.
There will be a total of 3,333 KodaPendants, and each NFT will be accompanied by its physical counterpart, a Koda-shaped 925 silver pendant with Gucci’s iconic GG inscription.
The KodaPendant will only be available to Koda or Vessel NFT holders. The purchase will consist of a metadata update that will generate a “KodaPendant” trait in the NFT’s metadata: after purchasing the pendant trait and refreshing the metadata, buyers will witness a visual update with their Koda or Vessel wearing a KodaPendant and a Gucci-branded frame.
Each KodaPendant NFT will cost 450 APE (roughly $1950), with the sale beginning on April 6, 2023, and lasting 24 hours or until all digital KodaPendants are sold out.
Together with the metadata purchase, buyers will be able to claim the physical KodaPendant on a Gucci website this summer.
Last week, Otherside revealed Legends of the Mara as part of an effort to expand its metaverse project and provide fans with a new adventure centered around rare extraterrestrial creatures that inhabit Otherside’s virtual world.
Gucci’s goal to be a participant in this effort is part of the brand’s drive to innovate and bring fashion to the digital world. Other initiatives from the fashion house include the collaboration with Superplastic for the debut of the brand’s first NFT collection, “SuperGucci” and the debut of the “Gucci Vault Land” metaverse experience on The Sandbox.
Gucci began accepting cryptocurrencies, including ApeCoin, at its boutique outlets last year.
