The Sandbox recently revealed “Cinerama” on X (Twitter), a new virtual space empowering users to construct their cinematic realms within the metaverse.
The Cinerama virtual space features renowned entities such as The Walking Dead, Peaky Blinders, Hell’s Kitchen by Gordon Ramsay, Le Petit Prince, and more, fostering potential collaboration with the community.
To engage the community, The Sandbox has launched the “Cinerama LAND Sale,” allowing the public to buy virtual plots. These plots could potentially become virtual neighbors to the aforementioned powerhouses, providing an opportunity for collaboration between buyers (which may include filmmakers, storytellers, and cinema fans) and creative powerhouses to exchange ideas and bring film concepts to life.
The sale includes 414 Regular LANDs, 73 Premium LANDs, and 6 ESTATE auctions, accessible to the public through a raffle. Interested participants can already register for the raffle, with criteria including a verified account and holding at least 1,011 SAND for Regular LAND or 4,683 SAND for Premium LAND.
Allowlisted individuals will have a 96-hour window, starting November 23, to purchase a random LAND during the sale period.
The Cinerama revelation follows The Sandbox’s collaboration announcement with Banijay to bring the Peaky Blinders and Black Mirror series to its metaverse.
As the entertainment industry increasingly adopts Web3, companies are striving to offer fans more immersive experiences and engage them in new ways.
Earlier this month, Sony Pictures, Spyglass Media Group, and MeetKai collaborated to launch “Survive Thanksgiving,” a metaverse experience echoing an upcoming horror film.
In July, Warner Bros. innovatively released the DC Comics superhero film “The Flash” as a non-fungible token (NFT) alongside its conventional digital platform release.
