Warner Bros. has revealed that the upcoming DC Comics superhero film “The Flash” will be offered as a non-fungible token (NFT) alongside its release on conventional digital platforms.
Beginning tomorrow, July 18, 2023, 12 am ET, fans will have the opportunity to buy and access the “The Flash” Web3 movie experience via Eluvio, a blockchain service, using either credit card or cryptocurrency.
Buyers will be able to enjoy the movie in 4K Ultra HD resolution, and will also gain access to exclusive features and collectible artworks, including augmented reality (AR) collectibles.
Fans will be able to choose between two NFT editions, each offering a randomly selected character-based key art with different levels of rarity.
The first, called the “Mystery” edition, is priced at $35 and includes one of four pieces of key art (Prime Barry, Young Barry, Batman, or Supergirl). Additionally, buyers will receive two of five dynamic locations from the movie — such as the Chronobowl, Barry’s Apartment, and the Bat . The “Mystery” edition is limited to 10,000 random mints.
The “Premiere” edition comes with a retail price of $100 and is limited to just 2,000 mints. This NFT features one of two motion art pieces showcasing The Flash, Supergirl, and Batman together or Dark Flash. Moreover, it includes all five dynamic menu locstions and offers exclusive special features.
“The Flash” is not the first film to enter the Web3 realm, as Warner Bros. previously introduced the 1978 movie “Superman: The Movie” in collaboration with Eluvio, and AMC, the American movie theater chain, released Batman NFTs in honor of the film “The Batman” in February 2022.
