Tencent Cloud, the cloud subsidiary of global conglomerate corporation Tencent, has announced it will power up the NEXONTOWN metaverse app.
Developed in partnership with video game company Nexon, the metaverse world features camping sites, classrooms, and conference places, where organizations can host their events and users can connect using characters from Nexon’s online games.
Within the space, people are able to connect and communicate with each other using chat, voice chat, messenger, 1:1 chat, and camera.
Among the services Tencent Cloud currently offers are virtual simulations, virtual cities, and campuses, as well as cloud rendering and digital twins, as well as avatars based on real-time capture and face swapping, including hosts, salespeople, and customer service representatives.
Using its years of gaming and audio/video experience, Tencent Cloud is able to power the NEXONTOWN metaverse and help companies in developing their metaverse presence, providing solutions that use cutting-edge technologies such as AI and smart codec.
The NEXONTOWN app is currently accessible in South Korea, and plans to expand internationally are in the works.
