Taki Games, a gaming company, and Two3 Labs, a Web3 studio, have announced a partnership to launch “Puzzle Smoofs,” a mobile puzzle tile game that will integrate the Smoofs non-fungible token (NFT) collection.
The collaboration was revealed in a press release on March 1, with the game currently in development and scheduled for release in March 2024.
The game will integrate NFTs from the Smoofs collection, unveiled in December 2023, featuring 8,000 characters minted on the Polygon blockchain. According to OpenSea statistics, the collection boasts a trading volume of 63 ETH, translating to more than $210,000 within just two months.
The primary aim of incorporating Smoofs NFTs into the upcoming Puzzle Smoofs game is to provide additional utility to holders, enabling them to interact with their digital assets in new ways. The game will be accessible on mobile devices and is expected to be available on major app stores.
Puzzle Smoofs will leverage the unique aspects of Web3 gaming, including a play-to-earn model, rewards, and decentralized ownership.
Taki Games, no stranger to decentralized gaming, has consistently been at the forefront by integrating mobile gaming with Web3. Its gaming ecosystem, known as “Takinomics,” is based on the TAKI token, which plays a central role in maintaining the value of in-game tokens and offering new rewards for players.
Joining the Taki Network’s library of games, Puzzle Smoofs will be alongside other successful titles like Game7 Food Fighter and Pac-Cats. Taki Games aims to introduce billions of mobile gamers to the Web3 era through strategic partnerships with leading Web3 brands, extending their influence in the gaming industry.
The broader Web3 gaming sector is experiencing rapid expansion, with various companies capitalizing on the benefits of Web3 to enhance the gaming experience. Notably, Deloitte Tohmatsu Group recently launched a baseball-themed NFT game on the Astar zkEVM blockchain, and Serum City, an NFT game by Faraway, Novel Labs, and Yuga Labs, opened doors to BAYC and MAYC holders.
Recent statistics show an increase in blockchain games from 2,081 in January 2023 to 2,877 in January 2024. Looking ahead, projections for the Web3 gaming industry in the United States alone anticipate reaching a market share of $14,255.4 million by 2033.
