SYKY, a digital fashion platform founded by Alice Delahunt, former chief digital officer of Ralph Lauren, has unveiled its SYKY Collective 2023, an incubator program aimed at accelerating the integration of metaverse applications in the fashion industry.
The startup has carefully chosen 10 designers from around the globe who stand out for their innovative use of technology and techniques in fashion creation.
Calvyn Justus, for instance, employs 3D tools to transform inspirations from nature, fluid movement, and ancient mythology into fashion pieces. Gustavo Toledo combines science and fashion through methods such as 3D modeling, printing, and up-cycling. Felipe Fiallo, the owner of an Italian phygital footwear brand, focuses on regenerating the planet by utilizing biodegradable materials, digital fabrication, and environmental initiatives.
The roster of designers also includes Fanrui Sun, Pet Liger, Taskin Goec, Stephy Fung, GlitchOfMind, Jacqueline Jade, and the co-founders of Nextberries.
The program will not only provide funding for the designers but also offer invaluable mentorship to help them cultivate and grow their businesses, enabling them to navigate the future of fashion. Prominent mentors involved in the program include Jonathan Bottomley, Chief Marketing Officer at Calvin Klein, Mark Guiducci, Creative Editorial Director of VOGUE, and The British Fashion Council (BFC), among others.
SYKY launched in 2022 with the ambitious goal of revolutionizing fashion and its virtual applications. In January 2023, the company successfully raised $9.5 million in a Series A investment round, with participation from investors such as Seven Seven Six, Howard Digital, and Leadout Capital.
