RTFKT, the virtual fashion studio under Nike’s ownership, has revealed the public release of its Dunk Genesis “Ghost” and “Void” physical sneaker editions.
The pre-sale for these sneakers took place on November 18 and 19, followed by the official public sale on November 20, which occurred in two separate drops spaced three hours apart.
The final chance to purchase the Void and Ghost editions was after the second drop, which lasted for three hours.
Priced at $222 each, these special editions draw inspiration from the gaming world and come with removable mods and interchangeable vial attachments.
While both editions share the same features, they differ in colors — the Ghost edition features white and light grey, while the Void edition showcases black and purple.
Although not initially marketed as non-fungible tokens (NFTs), these sneakers include a Near Field Communication (NFC) chip that enables owners to redeem a digital collectible.
Expected delivery for both editions is slated for next year, with the Void edition anticipated in July 2024 and the Ghost edition in August 2024.
This move underscores RTFKT’s and Nike’s continued foray into the Web3 space. Just a month ago, the studio announced plans to produce physical versions of NFT sneakers from its Dunk collection. During the forging event from October 18 to October 30, NFT holders could redeem their tokens for custom-made physical sneakers.
The Dunk sneakers were first introduced in 2022 through a revelation tied to “MNLTH” NFT holders. Within the mysterious box, they unveiled a pair of digital Nike Dunk sneakers, aptly named “Cryptokicks,” showcasing a variety of colors and styles.
